Who are we?
We are more than the Social Media class, we are a team. If you want to know more about us, here is where you could find more information about us, who we are and why we are here.
Mohamed Yaniss Assidi
Hi :). I’m Mohamed Yaniss Assidi. I’m from Annaba, Algeria. I’m a student at university. My major is mechanical engineering. I came here to malta to get a certificate. So, i can continue my studies abroad. My hobbies are sleeping, spending time with family and friends, swimming, being lazy. Sometimes I workout. I love animes and video games. Like most people, I’ve dreams like travelling all over the world, getting a high salary job and so many others.
I want to write a book about the ugliness of humankind because a lot of people act kind but they aren’t. We do realize it with time.
I like the English social media class because it helped me experience different things like interviewing people, making projects, & doing research. In the end, I’m an average human being like the others but with a lot of goals in mind to achieve.
Fabio BARMASSE
Hello,
I’m Fabio, an Italian teacher. I live in Aosta Valley, a little village in the North-West of Italy, in the Alps, very closed to the “Mont Blanc”. Well, actually, I’m living in the mountains and it is not easy for some aspects: it’s frequently cold and it snows often. In this case, it’s very difficult for me to move by bike.
What about myself? I’m 44 years old and I teach physical education at primary school.
I like my job! In the free time, I go skiing in the winter and in the summer I climb, I walk, I run and I go cycling.
Anne Bruinsma
I am seventeen years old, i was born in the Netherlands in a village in the north call Zuidhorn, currently I am living on the beautiful island Malta. Last year I graduated from high school I have my HAVO certificate now, next year I am planning on studying in Groningen a HBO study at the Hanzehogeschool, a study called international communication. For now I am still in Malta in the social media class of Cathy, I didn’t choose to come in this class but now I am here and it is totally fine, I even dragged my BFF Britt Haverkamp with me to this class and we are having tons of fun.

Kevin gesquiere
Hey, I’m Kevin. I come from France.
I work during the last 10 years as a software developer. Now, like many, I’m an English student.
You can contact me with my gmail account kevin.gesk@gmail.com
I will stay in Malta for 12 weeks.
The goal of my stay :
-
Relaxing. I quit my job in order to stay all the winter here. In the north of France, it’s so cold comparing to here. It is freezing.
-
Improve my English. My priority is my pronunciation. Coming from France, I have a ”lovely” french accent. Maybe if I progress a lot, I would live in a foreign country.
-
Meet different people all around the world.
Before being in this class (social media), I was in the SPIN “Business“ and “Exam preparation“. I like testing all the possibilities.
Jesus Gimenez
Hello my dudes, the name’s Jesus, I’m 20-years-old and I come from Caracas, Venezuela.
I came to Malta to improve my English so I can get into college and study cinema animation.
I’ve been in Malta since October of 2017 and I’ll be here until Malta kicks me out.
I don’t like grammar, it’s too boring (lies) , so I’m in the social media class, it’s so cool.
Britt Haverkamp
I was born in the Netherlands, in the second biggest city, called Rotterdam. I’m currently living in Malta. In 4 weeks, I’m back in the most beautiful country in the world. Although I haven’t found my next study yet, I need to choose one when I go back. I want to do a study that is related to international business. I’d like to be a manager in the future and work for an international company. But first I have to finish EF Malta, which is one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever lived. I met Anne, this person changed my life. I can’t imagine how my life would be without her. Fortunately she lives is Zuidhorn and we can see each other whenever we want.
I had to summarize my life, so if there is anything you would like to know?
Feel free and talk to me!

Luis Henrique Antunes
Hi, my name is Luis, and I`m 23-years-old. I recently graduated in Psychology from Catholic University, Campinas, Brazil. I came to Malta with one idea in mind, to improve my english enough to do a Masters, outside of Brazil. I also like Philosophy and Politics. I hope i can be able to integrate those three areas in my Master research.
Outside studying, I do enjoy going out with friends and family, especially when I can do both at the same time. I also throw parties at my house, since my family likes to party all the time. We do movie nights and go eat out a lot.
I hope I can enjoy the most of Malta in the 6 months that i`m staying here. I would also love to learn some Maltese.
I`m not sure why I`m in social media class.
Cynthia Alena Keller
Hi, my name is Cynthia Alena Keller and I’m 20 years old. I was born on 22 of February. I live in Switzerland with my parents and my grandmother. I don’t have siblings but my best friend is like a sister to me. I have a dog and two cats back in Switzerland and I really miss them now. I had an apprenticeship as a social worker with people who are mentally or/and physically challenged. I worked three years in this job and I really like this job. It is really interesting but the work times are bad. I worked from 6:30 a.m to 15:30 p.m or from 12:30 p.m to 21:30 p.m. After my time in Malta, I will go to Nice for nine month to learn French. When I’m back in Switzerland, I want to learn Arabic, because I want to work with immigrants.
My hobbies are to watch movies or series,I love action movies, fantasy movies and disney movies, (I’m a real couch potato) to read books, especially fantasy books like Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings and to ride longboard.
I like to cook, bake, listen to rock music and go to concerts.
I hate making presentations or to speak in front of more than two people. I don’t like classical music, romantic movies or to wait for somebody but I’m always late.
I took this class because I don’t like grammar and it sounds really interesting.
Ophélie Le Clech
To describe my personality, I am a competitor but only with myself. I always try to improve myself in several fields. For example, I am here in Malta in order to improve my english skills. I love to be polyvalent and feel competent in many domains, I think it could help me in the future. My friends and family use to call me « the Swiss knife », it is a recent french expression. I finished my studies two years ago, and now I am a product designer, an interior designer, a painter, and sometimes a children/teenagers camp director.
To speak about my leisure, I am a fan of music. I have been collecting vinyls disks for now 7 years, and sometimes I sing while playing piano (it has been my first passion since I am six years old). Recently, I have been passionate about board games, I think I bought a lot last year. I am a collector of many things. I believe that I am like this because of my father, he uses to collect everything (stamps, coins, flints…)
I regret three things about the leisure I don’t practice enough :
- « I would like to practice sport », but I am only a false athletic person (I do some exercices if someone give me enough courage to work out together)
- « I like reading », but I have never been accustomed to read a lot. I just read easy psychological and sociological books when I find the time to do it. I really love psychology and sociology, I am interested by knowing more about the human behaviour and our new society, for example the Y generation.
- In contrast with the other people of my generation, I haven’t watched as many movies and series (in english version) as I wanted. I think it could have helped me for my english. I regret to not have done this before coming here.
Now I won’t speak about my character, it would be too long or boring to describe it ;).
Nam Nguyen
My name is Nam. I’m 17 and I’m from Vietnamese. I was born in Poland and I live there in Cracow. I’m attending high school. I’m into movies, creating, and writing scripts and I love traveling and meeting new people.
In my free time,I’m usually go out with my friends or just lying in bed all day and watching series on Netflix and playing video games. I hate to be bored. So, I have to do something all the time otherwise I get mad. My favorite food is pizza or polish pierogi. I can speak Polish & Vietnamese and I’m still learning German and Italian. I can’t imagine leaving my home without my headphones and my phone. I love music, Ultraviolence is my favorite album by Lana del Rey.I used to attend an English school ,in my country, for 5 years “Gama Bell” and they made me love this language. I really want to improve the level of my English and I want to study english you can get along with almost everyone, it’s really useful.
kazuki nitta
My name is Kazuki Nitta. I’m 18 years old and a university student in Japan. I live in kanagawa. My hobby is to do kendo. I have practiced kendo since i was 12 years old. I like watching movies, especially English movies. I enjoy exercising, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and baseball. I have a sister, she is one year older than me. She is nice but sometimes she gets mad at me. I’m studying Economics in my university. But i don’t like it because I’m interested in languages now. That’s why I came here to study English. In japan, there is very little opportunity to speak English, so I wanted to study English in abroad. But now, I’m troubled to express my feelings in english.
My dreams are to be a study abroad agent, like an EF consultant. Because when i consulted them, they chose the proper country for me. I was impressed. So I too want to be a travel consultant.
Masahide oki
Hello my name is Masahide ooki.I’m from japan so I’m staying in Malta for 2 months. Today is my first day of class. I’m very nervous now. My hobbies are to play soccer and to ride my bike.
Football is a nice tool for making friends. So, I will take part in EF soccer club. I want to travel around the world in the future.
I love travelling. So when I finish this program in Malta, I will travel around the world. Why do I study English? I want to talk a lot of people all around the world. It is so funny. I have a lot of things that I don’t know. If I can speak a better english, I would get a lot of friends, information and good memories. So I have to study hard in Malta. Why did I choose Malta? It is very easy, the reason that I chose Malta is for EF movie. I could choose which language school and where there are. I watched a lot of movies of countries and searched. Malta has very beautiful sea and view.
Gaia Piantanida
I think I could identify myself with four simple words:
STUDENT, NERD, SEA LOVER and WASTED TIME WRITER.
I study Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at University. Actually, I have some problems with my last exams but I firmly want to graduate as soon as possible to run abroad and find a job. That’s one of the reasons I’m here, today, in Malta, introducing myself. I need to improve my English to have a chance to succeed.
Second, I’m a Nerd. Yes, I have a freaking passion for video games, mangas, animes, TV shows and action figures collectibles. I could actually spend whole day at the laptop, PS4 or TV, with some good rock music in the background.
Third, I love the sea, snorkeling and scuba diving. I pretty much know all kind of fish and corals which lives in our seas. This passion, of course, involves traveling and that’s another valid purpose to overcome with my lack of confidence in speaking English.
Last but not least, in my free time I like writing novels and stories (sometimes with my best friend’s aid), especially about Pirates or breathtaking adventures. Be able to write those same incredible stories in English would be a lifelong dream.
Emilia Skoogh
My name is Emilia and I am from Sweden. I still go to school and my favorite subject is Swedish, Society and Psychology. I usually describe myself as a happy person and I love to talk. I am also creative when I have the time and energy to express my feelings. I write a lot, because I express my feelings in words, and one of my dreams is to publish a book filled with my own poems and novels. My plans for the future are to first graduate from school and then I will either take a year off to travel and work but when I am done with that I will be going to university. There I will study rhetoric. My biggest dream is to be an rhetoric consultant.I like to go to the gym but my biggest hobby is to eat, I love food. In my spare time, I like to drink coffee with my friends. I am very interested in feminism so I read a lot about that and watch documentaries. I also like being outside or training with friends. My view on the world and of myself is very simple. I believe that I can do anything by myself, and I love being independent. My go to quote is, ”Be a strong, independent woman”.
Honestly, I have no idea why I am in this class. My grammar is very bad so I hope this class will help me with that. Grammar was very hard for me at school in Sweden.

Nanne vorstenbosch
Hi my name is Nanne, I am a 17-year-old Dutch girl. Last year I finished high school, but I had no idea what kind of study I wanted to do afterwards. I was more interested in taking a gap year and living somewhere else for a while. I decided to go to Malta, because the weather here is way better than it is in The Netherlands and my parents liked it because it is still in Europe. The main reason why I am here is to improve my English of course, since I am not planning on staying/studying in the Netherlands.
Before I was in this social media class, I only had grammar spin classes. After a while I got chosen to be in this class and I quite like it.
LIU YUAN
Hi there, I’m Liu Yuan from China. You can also call me Yvonne. Currently, I’m in my second year of college studies. I major in English Education and want to be an English teacher in the future! As for my hobbies, I enjoy reading, ACGN(animation, comics, games and novels). In addition, I also enjoy travelling. Since I was 6 years old, my family and I have been to many places in China. I like the beautiful nature sceneries in those places, such as mountains, rivers, lakes or seas!
The reason why I'm in Malta is because I want to study English in an authentic context, and from travelling magazines I learnt that Malta is a beautiful country situated in Europe surrounded by the sea! It’s an ideal place and it's where I always wanted to go!
Nice to meet you guys here! Let’s study hard and play hard together to experience a meaningful language trip in EF!
Patricia palula aguilar
Hello!

I chose this class because I wanted something new and till now I really like it. I feel I’m going to learn a lot of things that after I’ll use in my future live and with my baby business. Also Cathy is one of my favorite teachers in EF Malta. In summary for sure is going to be my favorite class.
Regina Beil
Hello my is Regina and I’m 23 years old. I come from the South of Germany. At the Moment I’m studying Economics at the university of Regensburg. But this summer I will pass my final exam and afterwards I will have a Bachelor of Science. On the one hand, Regensburg is a really historical town, which was influenced from the Romans but on the other, it is a really modern place, cause of the 30,000 students and other young people.
In October 2018, my life will change. Because I will leave my family and will live in Steyr, Austria and will make my Master study there for the next 2 years. I already focused on Supply Chain Management at my current academic studies and I will improve my logistic skills more and more.
Furthermore, I’m a really sportive girl. I’ve been playing volleyball in a team for 11 years. But I’m also interested in skiing, swimming and running.
I am taking the social media classes because they are necessary for connecting you with your friends, who are distributed all over the world. But this new kind of communication channels are important for the economy too. In my opinion, this trend will go on and on in the future and everyone should know how he have to work with it and how to look at the consequences, when you post a contribution.
Corinna Keck
Hello my name is Corinna. I’m 23 years old. I’m from Germany, specifically from Bavaria. My city is called Straubing. It’s about 100 km south from Munich. At the moment I’m studying Economics at the university of Regensburg. Regensburg is quite near my home city. In September this year I will graduate with my Bachelor of Science. After that I will take the next level of study. Therefore I will start studying in Austria Sports, Culture and Event management. It’s a special type of study, because you only have class on Friday and Saturday and from Monday to Thursday you have to go to work. So you will be able to practise all these things you learned in your study from the beginning.
My favorite hobby is horse riding. I started it 15 years ago. But I’m also interested in cooking, reading, traveling and of course going out with my friends.
Well I took this course, because social media is not only used in your private life but also in your job. More and more companies are using social media to inform about themselves and about what they do. Especially for me, it’s very important to use the social media in a safe way in English, because of my study in the event area English is the most important language you should dominate.
Valeriy Mashkovkiy
My name is Valeriy Mashkovskiy. I am from Russia. I was born in Moscow. I am a student of Moscow Aviation University. I am friendly, polite, communicative and calm person.
I arrived to Malta on the 1st of January and I will stay here until 21 of april. I am studying English in the Ef school. I started learning this language when i was 7 years old, but I had little practise, because in my country a very small percent of people can speak English.
I choose this class because for me it is very important to improve my vocabulary skills. I want to speak faster than I can now and I want to learn many important words which I can use in daily communication and in my future work. Also it is necessary to know how to use social media, because nowadays everything is done by internet and TV.
terry Fouquoire
My name is Terry Fouquoire, I’m 22 and I live in Malta until the 31 of march. I’m studying English at EF to be more open minded. I was born in France, near DisneyLand Paris but I want to travel to more countries. I don’t want to live in the same country I grew up because my city is very busy and stressful.
I’m a calm person but I also love to go to parties and enjoy with friends. I like to make things for myself, have the good stuff and buy things I exactly need. I’m also a simple person who doesn’t need a lot to live.
My career is always changing. From psychology, to real estate agent and then escale agent in airports. But I was feeling stress in those jobs so I decided to find another way, a way I could really like. I want to try my chances in the Switzerland’s mountains.
I chose social media class because it is the biggest way to communicate in the 21th century. Before going anywhere, I can read a lot of useful advices and informations. I need to find those informations as fast as possible because they are a lot. I feel really comfortable with this technology and I really love to use it every days.
Lucienne Boutellier
My name is Lucienne Boutellier and I’m living in Switzerland, working as an independent hoof trimmer (pedicure for horses, explained the easy way :) ). I also do massages for humans and I am studying shamanism (the oldest healing system in the world).
I love animals and at home I have different pets. A horse, a dog and two cats.
My hobbies include reading, writing, drawing, get to know people, horseback riding and being out in nature.
I love travelling too and if it wasn't so expensive I’d do it much more often.
In my life, I have been in Canada two times for several weeks travelling around by car. It’s my favourite country up to this moment. But I also have visited Spain, Hungary, Germany, France, Greece and Italy. Every country has its special features, it’s beautiful places and people.
Last year, I won one week at EF school in Malta through a contest in the internet. That was nearly exactly one year ago, at Easter time. First I’d wanted to spend two weeks here. Unfortunately, there were some different reasons which made this impossible. So now I’m here for only one week and I hope to improve my English skills very well. I don’t know why I got put in this class but I think it is a part of the general course. I’m hoping to learn a lot.
Daniela Celis Alba
I am a Latin girl, who is from Colombia (South America), I am living in Malta, St Julians. I am here not just to improve my English level, but also to learn about many things in life. I live not so far from school, so I enjoy walking to school when the weather is good. When I’ll come back to Colombia I will study Politics Science in the best University in my country. In my career, English will be one of the most important things that I will have to use. But more than just using the language I want to take advantage of it. I don’t want to learn the language but I want to experience it like as a native speaker. I choose this class because I was in the social media class in my high school, and there I was part of the school newspaper so I have experience and I am very interested in the topic.
Ina
Hallo, ich bin Ina. This is German and it means, “Hello, I am Ina”. So, I am a German girl who is learning english at EF. I am taking the social media class to have my first experience designing a website. My whole family comes from Poland! That means I am half Polish and I like that fact, because I had the chance to learn a second language as a child. I am 18 years old, I finished high school and I’m almost ready for my future. Wolfsburg is the town where I live and you might know the company “Volkswagen,” also from my hometown. Almost everybody works there, but I am not interested in cars. I like drawing in my freetime and maybe I will become a graphic or product designer one day. Thank you for reading!
Jesus Manuel Murillo Chiw
Hi, i’m Jesus Manuel Murillo Chiw. I’m from La Paz B.C.S Mexico. I'm a graduate from high school. I have come here to Malta to get a certificate so I can continue my studies in Mexico. My hobbies are spending time with my friends and family, partying and sleeping. I love traveling with my friends because I really enjoy spending time with them and knowing about new cities. I think it is one of the best combinations.
One of my dreams is traveling around the world to experience different cultures and traditions. My dream is to have my own company and to be my own boss so nobody can tell me what to do or how to think. That is the reason why, when I go back to Mexico, I’m going to continue my studies in the university and I will take a major in Business. I think I would love the social media class because the teacher will teach us how to do a good interview or something like that but at the same time she/he will teach us how to write in the right form.
Zahira AZAR
My name is Zahira, I’m a 18-year-old who lives in Uruguay. For those who don’t know, Uruguay it’s a very small country located in South America just next to Argentina.
Last year I finished high school and I was supposed to start a career at university this year but since I didn’t really like any my mother suggested for me to go on an exchange trip to learn English abroad and also have the culture experience. So, I thought this was a very good idea and also a very good way to improve my English for a more professional level and to make friends from all over the world.
My family is composed of my two siblings, my brother and my sister, my mother, my father and my two dogs who I love very much. I used to play field hockey a few years ago but now, when I’m not studying, I spend my days hanging out with my friends or watching movies or series on Netflix. Also, on Saturdays, I used to do what we call “Oratorio” which is an activity we do for kids in neighbourhoods that have economic problems, we do it with the Christian Church and the Salesians community.
Finally, I didn’t pick this Social Media class but anyway, I think it’s and it will be very interesting because of the fact that Social Media has become a huge factor in teenagers’ lives, so it’s very useful to learn how to properly communicate in it and all the tools you can use.
Coleen hartig
I am Coleen from Germany and just finished my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a major in Marketing, E-commerce as well as Entrepreneurship. I will start my Masters degree in October which is why I now have some time off to improve myself. Therefore I am now in Malta to improve my English skills. Afterwards I will be doing an internship in Brussels at a digital marketing agency. One of my responsibilities will be to create content for social media channels of my company as well as for clients of the company. That is why this Social Media Class perfectly fits my needs regarding the internship and my further studies.
SOUMAHILL MIRALI ABEL-HANIFF
Hi, my name is Abel, from France and I was born in a French island (Mayotte) located between Madagascar and Africa. I am 22 years old.
I started my course with EF in Toronto on September 25th, currently i'm in Malta until May. I’m here to improve my English because I want to become a pilot.
My hobbies? I like nightclubs, hanging out with my best friend, chilling and watching Netflix, cinema, music and drinking alcohol.
I’m in this class because I saw everything with my other Spins, and all the others are full, then the Academic Department propose me to try this Spin for the week.
I feel uncomfortable because I don’t like writing.
Marceau Richard
Hi my name is Marceau and I`m from Belgium.
Actually I`m 18 years old and I’m studying English in Malta. I think it’s a great opportunity to be here learning English, meeting new people and discovering Malta. Thanks to this, we improve ourself and our character.
So personally, I love football, especially Chelsea, because there are a lot of Belgian players and Hazard Isone of my favourite players.
To conclude, live day by day and have fun.
I took this class because I was in business class for 2 months and it was always the same thing so a little boring.
Rina buja
My name is Rina Buja. I was born in Switzerland on the 11th January 2001.
In Switzerland, I’m doing an apprenticeship in an office. I work for the department of Finance at the canton of St.Gallen. Three days per week I work at the office (Wednesday-Friday) and the other two days (Monday and Tuesday) I visit the economic business school (Kaufmaennische Berufsschule St.Gallen, KBZ). The apprenticeship takes 3 years. In summer 2018 I will start my 3rd year.
In school we learn German, French and English. My parents originally are from Kosovo. So that’s why I can also speak Albanian. When I was a child, I wasn’t allowed to speak other languages besides Albanian at home. For that I’m very thankful, otherwise I might not be able to speak Albanian this well.
I have two older brothers. One of them is 26-years-old and his name is Ndricim. The other one is named Nderim and is 24-years-old.
I came to Malta, to improve my English skills. To learn how to speak with people from other nationalities and find new friends. In Switzerland, we dedicate our english lessons more to the grammar than to the speaking.
A friend of mine told me that Malta is a good place to learn English and also spent my holidays.
I came here with my cousin. Both of us are at the same host family. We are going to stay for two weeks.
I didn’t choose these lessons, it was randomly put in my timetable.
Ulpiana Balaj
My name is Ulpiana Balaj and I am 17-years-old. I live in Switzerland but my parents are from Kosovo. I still live at home with my parents and my siblings. I have an older sister called Enkelejda she is 20-years-old and a younger brother he is 14-years-old.
In Switzerland, you have to do an apprenticeship before you can really start working. You can choose what kind of an apprenticeship you want to do. I chose to work in a office and I also have to go to school. Three days of the week I am in the office and the two other days I go to school. The apprenticeship takes three years. Currently, I am in the second year.
In school we learn the languages German, French and English. The problem in my school is that we invest more time in grammar than in speaking. That's because I thought it would be a great idea to do a Linguistic stay. My teacher proposed me to try the EF school and that's why I'm here.
I’m staying two weeks in Malta with a Host Family. You can't really say it's a Host Family because we just have a mother. She's a really nice person and can cook very delicious food.
The teacher said that we have also to say why we're in this class. To be honest I didn't choose this class, it was randomly put in my timetable.
Martin Moulin
Hi, my name is Martin, I’m 17 years old, and I’m from Geneva (That’s in Switzerland if you didn’t know that).
About me… Well, I like music, not all kind of music but not really far from that.
I play the piano (I know, how original!), I like theater, musicals, movies and art in general. I like to play games with friends, role playing games, board games, cards and all that. I also like to have time to just walk on my own, with music, just to relax.
Oh yeah, and I don’t like sports. I just don’t. I actually like one sport, skiing.
Well I like hiking too. So yeah I don’t like most sports.
Oh and yeah I like technology also, I’m in an IT school back in Switzerland, so that’s why I chose this social media class. Actually I didn’t choose, I just got picked, but I would have picked it anyway, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.
Lisa Wolterink
Hello!! My name is Lisa Wolterink and I’m 16-years-old. I come from the Netherlands and I have two brothers called Thomas and Roman, which are aged 19 and 21. I play field hockey 3 times a week and I always have a match on Saturdays.
I also really like to dance. I have a best friend called Juliette, whom I am with some 4 times a week. I know her since my fifth age.
The reason why I chose to do an English trip is because I wanted to practice my
English and make it much better. My grades at school were very bad for the
listening, speaking and writing tests. A friend of mine told me that it might be
a good idea to do an English course. The first time I thought “Omg, a cursus?
In English?” But then she told me that the school was in Malta, where the
weather is so nice. I told my parents about it and they said that I would
be really happy if I would do that lessons because my English would be much
better and my grades would be much higher, so I was thinking about it and then I
decided to do the course. And I’m really glad I chose this course because I am really enjoying this trip!
Hi, Mi name is Pamela. I am from Costa Rica (in central America- it’s not Puerto Rico, haha). I am 27-years-old and I live in the city, in the capital, San Jose. I live with my parents, my sister, my little brother, 4 dogs and 2 cats.
My family is really big, we are 4 sisters, 3 nephews, and one little brother that is adopted so he thinks that I am his aunt.
I studied Arts and visual communication and advertising. I graduated 4 years ago.
I work as a Graphic Designer and my dream is to work freelance everywhere and travel around the world.
Pamela Brenes R.
I’m here in Malta with EF because I love travelling but my parents didn’t want me to just go somewhere without a purpose other than ‘just’ discover new places, so I just said, “fine, I’ll learn a language!”. I chose to learn English because I already understand and speak English relatively well, but I still have a lot to learn. And I choose Malta because I didn’t want to go really far away. I also was interested in Malta because of its culture, especially when I found out that Valletta was the 2018 European City of Culture. Of course the fact that Malta has a hot climate and beaches influenced my choice.
I love animals (obviously) arts, coffee, and going to the beach. In my free time, I like to do oil paint, run, watch tv, draw and go out with my dogs and my nephew. Actually, I made him a comic, it's called: ‘Las historias de Gabriel’ on instagram; you can check it if you want and follow it!
The most intense experience in my life was to travel to Brazil last year to do volunteer work in a poor zone, where I taught Spanish to kids and adults. In that place, I learned so much about life; to be more grateful and to lose the fear and to travel alone more.
Now, I quit my job to come here but also to learn about new cultures in this part of the world and move some mental barriers that I have. Oh, and to learn English, not only understand it and talk, but to write well and use everything correctly.
Besides that, I choose Malta first of all because nobody knows where it was (haha), and I really want to experience something new- also, the weather, and finally, I liked the school.
I hope my experience here is well worth it and that I improve my English and make friends from every part of the world.
Pedro Bejarano
Hi, I was born in Colombia but I actually lived in Ecuador for a longer time, so I have a mix of cultures and it is kind of awesome but at the same time strange.
I always lived on the beach, so you know, I love seafood and water sports but more like extreme sports (kitesurfing, surfing, kayaking).
I like cars and speed and I have to say thanks to my mother because she taught me how to drive when i was nine-years-old, in the desert. It was really cool and since that day nobody can tell me not to drive or go fast with my car.
I always like to pass the time with friends and people. I think it is the best way to learn about others, cultures and the behavior of the human.
Dance parties, drinking and smoking is something that I always do but exercise, eating well and sleeping is part of my life too.
I'm here because I want to improve my English and also I need it for my university in Madrid. I’m in this class because it is part of my course and because I don't have something more interesting to do right now.
I'm going to finish telling you that I don't hate anything, I always enjoy the moment and I take the problems like opportunities.
RALF ARIAS
My name is Ralf, I was born in Caracas,Venezuela.
I’m 18 years old, I have a lot of hobbies like climbing, shuffling cards ( in a special way); when I was a little kid I tried to become a magician… yes, I know funny story.
The story of how I ended up here (in a good way) is very interesting, well for me it is…
I was at university when my little brother came up with the idea of going abroad for a trip, I told him,”I don’t know I have to reflect on that idea because I am still at university and I want to finish the semester,” and everything got screwed up at university because of the political problems in Venezuela.
The army and the students were fighting against each other and it was total chaos , streets were blocked it was almost impossible to get to the university. It was when I decided to follow my brother, and we started making all the preparation to embark on this trip.
The first time, we were trying to go to Ireland, in fact we applied for the visa that sadly was rejected, it was a big issue because we sent our passports to Ireland to return them was so difficult, so we decided to change our last destination to this little island called Malta.
Thankfully, we did this because we are happy with this decision, my brother and I will be leaving in six more months, yes we are here for 11 months almost a year but I know that these months are going to be the best.
Tobias Haase
Hello, I'm Tobias from Germany, but just call me Tobi.
I am currently 19-years-old and will finish my Abitur (comparable to the A-Levels) in a few weeks. Studying "Media Communication" in Würzburg (near Munich) would be great, but I have to wait for my high school graduation.
I work for a local newspaper as a social media manager and have already gained some experience as a journalist. My next big event will be the Würth Open Air, where I have the opportunity to meet the band "Sunrise Avenue" backstage and do a short interview. In my spare time, I like to manage some YouTube channels.

At the moment, I am responsible for the EF Malta-Instagram account and do some Ambassador stuff for them.
A big inspiration for me is Rob Nelson, a biologist and filmmaker from the USA, who creates science and nature videos on YouTube and even has his own TV show. He works with Jonas Stenstrom on the channels "Untamed Science" and "52Things". See for yourself!
Why do I love what I do? I can inspire and motivate people, but I can also influence and manipulate them-- it can be dangerous. That's why I'm always curious to learn new things. What do most of us do? Looking at the screens. The younger, the more likely. If you want to reach these people, you have to get to their screens. Welcome to Social Media :)
VERONIKA LAncosova
My name is Veronika. So here are some words about me. I come from Slovakia. I live in the capital of Slovakia which is Bratislava. For those, who do not know this country, it is the little country right next to Austria or Czech Republic. I came to Malta for the purpose of improving my english, because I am going for an exchange programme to U.S. I study marketing communication at the University. I am doing my second year of bachelor now. I live with my family, consisting of my mum, dad and younger brother. I have two lovely dogs and we are living in a house.
My interests are wide. In the winter I like skiing, because we have beautiful mountains in Slovakia and I go there for skiing every winter. In the summer I like to go running, walking my dogs and cycling. When I have some free time I like to be with my friends and spend time with them. I am an extrovert person and I like meeting new people and getting to know new places. I think Malta does involves both so I decided to spend my whole summer here and it is going to be a great experience.
Sarah Maring
Hi, I’m Sarah from Switzerland. At home I live in a nice region surrounded by lots of mountains near a nice lake called “the lake Thun”. My hobbies are dancing, cooking and traveling. At home I often go hiking, because I love nature and beautiful landscapes.
For me, it’s the first time I’m travelling alone but I’m very happy that I found new friends very quickly. I have now an eleven-week long summer break and I will spend eight of them in Malta to improve my English. Last summer, I finished my apprenticeship as a chemical laboratory technician. Then from October to June, I worked in a laboratory to earn some money to pay for this language course. In September, I will go to a high school for further education on biomedical analysis, so that I can work in a laboratory at a hospital or even do some medical research and developments. Research groups in Switzerland are mostly international, so the main language there is English.
Therefore I’m doing this language course. Yes, english is important for my job but for traveling as well. Hopefully I will get the chance to go to Hawaii to learn how to surf.
Hello, my name is Danique Broekema and I’m 20-years-old. I was born in the Netherlands, in a city named Haarlem. It’s a very beautiful city close to the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam. I’m studying hotel- and event management at TIO, University of Applied Sciences. Next year I will be in my third year. The reason that I came to Malta with EF is because I have to do my next internship in a foreign country. The plan is that I will go to Curacao to be an assistant event manager for three months. Therefore I want to become more confident about my English. Besides that I think it’s really important to invest in yourself if you have the chance. So that is what I’m doing!
I describe myself as an enthusiastic, eager to learn and social person. One of the things I really love to do is traveling. I want to see as much other countries as I can. This winter I went to Austria to ski and this summer I went to Ibiza and Formentera, now I’m here in Malta and at the end of July I’m going to Thailand to backpack for three weeks. I’m very excited about that. Another thing I really enjoy is being with friends and to do fun things. Like going to the beach, a party or just watch a movie at home.

Straight from Québec, Canada, I wasn’t supposed to come to Malta but at the last minute I received a bursary to go to ‘’improve’’ my English with EF and I had 3 days to decide where I wanted to go. The only things I knew about Malta before coming were that I would wake up tired every morning from really short nights… Probably the reason I chose this place after all...
I could describe myself as a sociable person who enjoys going out but also can be really serious for things that I judge as important. In Québec, you could probably find me working until 6 PM, between 6 and 11, working with a big rum and coke and after 11 going out in clubs. It may look like an unhealthy living but I want my advertising company to grow fast and work all around the world with my PC as soon as possible. I had been practicing a lot of sports since I was young until American Football broke my body apart so I had to get rid of some of my favourite, like football itself or weightlifting, to concentrate on ‘’smoother-for-my-body’’ sports like skiing, cycling or climbing.
My name is Aldo Azandegbe. I am 20-years-old and I study architecture in Lyon ,France. My school name is “Confluence Institute for Innovation and Creative Strategies in Architecture”. I come from Benin, a beautiful country in west Africa. I want to improve my english because I usually speak in english for my crit presentation at school. I choose Malta because it's sunny here and we can go party every day all night long. I am really interested in design, art and fashion. In other terms I am obsessed by all creative work. I spend the most of my time reading books, looking for the latest creation. Don't worry, I dont work all the time I also like going out with my friends and having fun. I am also really interested in photography. I started by taking a lot of pictures with my phone and then I upgraded to a Canon 750D. I think my favorite type of pictures are the street photographies. It is my favorite because we can catch so many feelings and vibes and its really natural. There is all the beauty of the street photography.
