The top 8 things to do in Malta

Malta isn’t only a beautiful island for relaxing, lying on the beach and getting sunburned. Even if you may have heard that vacationers only drinking the whole day and go to party all night long believe me there are also so many different things you can do. And I’m sure you will enjoy the following top 10 things here in Malta.

Gozo Full-Day Jeep Tour

You like action? This could be the perfect trip for you. You can start this tour early in the morning to have enough time to discover Gozo. After a short crossing to Gozo, a professional driver will pick you up. Be sure the driver knows the island like the back of their hand so you can see a spectacular scenery. The best is that the jeeps are capable to travel on the small country roads, where larger vehicles cannot venture. Later you can stop at the Ramla Bay, where you can go swimming.

Capital City Valletta

Culture, a Mediterranean flair, lovely small cafes and shops can be found in Valletta. You can visit Valletta very easily with the bus. Start your day with exploring the capital city either alone or with a guided tour. Don’t forget to go to the plattform to enjoy the absolutely amazing view around the harbour. After this exhausted walk around the city you can take a break in one of the lovely small cafes. Just sitting in the sun, enjoying your coffee and relaxing. If you have enough energy you can go shopping or visiting St. John’s Cathedral. The shopping queens among us should take the time to look around the many small shops. I’m sure you will find some unique pieces. If you are more interested in cultural things don’t miss the cathedral. You will never forget what you will see inside.

Marsaxlokk

Do you love seafood and fish? Then you have to go to Marsaxlokk to enjoy tasty mediterranean seafood. If you are not so keen on fish, don’t worry there are so many other things you can do. Just enjoy the beautiful scenery, the local market or visit Parish Church. Only the cute colorful boats, called Luzzus, which provide a spectacular scenery in the bay, make this place worth seeing. All culture lovers have the opportunity to visit Parish Church. This church is the heart of Marsaxlokk and it is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, the Madonna of Pompeii. When you are there you will feel like you’re in a trip back in time. You also have the opportunity to go swimming in the St. Peter’s Pool. At this place you will find one of the most beautiful and stunning natural swimming pools in Malta.

Mdina Old City

Psssst! Mdina is also called the silent city, because there isn’t any traffic inside the city walls. So Mdina is a very quiet and contemplative place. When you walk through the small streets of the city, many feel that they have been transported back into the Medieval times. It’s difficult to describe the attractiveness and tranquillity of this city, but it’s really worth taking the time to visit Mdina. I’m sure you will be surprised with the special feelings you get into the city walls.

Blue Hole

Attention divers! Have you been looking for crystal clear waters and fantastic marine life such as parrot fish, lobster, octopus and much more? Then stop searching and come to the Blue Hole. First you have to swim through a large vertical crack in the reef. After that, you can go up to the coral garden. If you are a bit frightened to swim out into the open sea, that’s no problem. You can also turn back and go to the cave at the far end of the Blue Hole. The popular arch was scheduled to be taken down because it was very dangerous to swim under it and as luck would have it, a heavy storm did it last year. So I know it’s a pity that the arch has fallen down into the sea but don’t worry you will still find an amazing scene.

Grand Harbour Boat Tour

Come on board! Take a relaxing cruise around Malta’s awesome, ancient, natural harbours and also feel the refreshing sea breeze caressing your face. Enjoy the Valletta Grand Harbour, which is one of the deepest natural harbours in the world.  The tour lasts about one hour, while staying on board you will get some nice and interesting explanations. The waterfront of Valletta and its sister "cities" of Vittoriosa, Senglea and Conspicua can be seen in all of their fortified splendour on these harbour cruises.

Wine Tasting at Tal-Massar Winery

Are you a wine lover? Then enjoy a wine tasting at Tal-Massar Winery here on Malta. The owner meet you at Gharb Main Square. Then he bring you to his vineyard. You get a very interesting presentation about his vineyards and about wine tasting. While listening to the owner you can feel his passion about his wine production. You can realize that this isn’t just a job for him. Later you can taste 4 different wines combined with 3 traditional finger foods.

Comino

You are looking for idyllic peace? So take the time and visit this little island between Malta and Gozo. Comino is only 3.5 square kilometers, therefore it’s car-free and apart only from one hotel. This island is virtually uninhabited. That’s the reason why you can find a beautiful backdrop and take amazing photos, which are not destroyed from cars or buildings. Comino is also a paradise for snorkelers, divers, windsurfers and ramblers. So as you can see this little island offers something for every taste.
